Monday Marriage Matters

Father, we are glad to follow Christ. We have died to self. The life that we possess now is the life to come, not the life on this earth. With joy we look forward to all of eternity with you! (written in the back of my bible many years ago)

Marriage = partnership. When two come together, it is not only physical, but also spiritually and mentally.
Marriage = sacrifice. When two come together, it will take daily sacrifice.
Marriage = eternity. When two come together, set your hearts on things above, so the world does not entice you with the lusts of the world.

Monday Marriage Matters

Marriage is something I am very passionate about, not only in my own marriage, but also to see other couples flourish and grow as a couple as well. Life has been way busy lately with my business, holidays, and let alone keeping up with my very own precious family. But, what’s funny is that this still small voice kept telling me, begin a blog post every Monday on Marriage…It’s funny, even in the midst of our crazy lives God still pursues us to use the gifts and talents He has given us. I truly believe He has given me a talent to write words that I am not able to speak aloud. Teaching in front of others just does not come naturally to me, but when I write, I feel God leading my every thought. Don’t get me wrong, there are many days I get dang writers block!
But, all that to say, I have surrendered, and I will be beginning this Monday Marriage Matters posts…

I kept pondering how in the world will I begin, there ARE SO MANY areas to discuss when it comes to marriage. As I was rocking my baby boy tonight, it makes complete sense to start with me, a wife. What does being a wife look like in my home, and what do I strive to be like each day as a wife to my husband and role model for my daughter.

Almost 6 years under my belt I can honestly say marriage is the best decision I have ever made. Becoming a wife has stretched me, taught me to die to myself, revealed my weaknesses, helped me understand submission, and mostly “a cord of three strands is not quickly broken” Ecc 4:12
If we did not have Christ as the center of our marriage, it been way easy a long time ago to give up when the honeymoon stage began to fade. But, since we strive to not look like the world, or live a marriage that the world portrays as some tv show, we live each day loving one another more by dying to our selfishness and sinful nature, and focusing on being different in a way that makes others want to know why we enjoy one anothers company, and we don’t yell at eachother and use degrading words toward one another and the list could go on.

As a wife I live by this quote from the book, Sacred Marriage–”to fully sanctify the marital relationship, we must live it together as Jesus lived his life–embracing the discipline of sacrifice and service as a daily practice.” Marriage is not something that just works itself out, it is something we have to DAILY work at. Marriage is commitment. Marriage is not just living together, but living life together. And I think I will end on that note….

Family Session–Huntsville, Al

I have been getting to know so many sweet families this season…it makes my job a whole lot easier and fun. Family sessions can be hard, but I have found that when I am just as silly or sillier with the kids, they perform that much more for me. Here are few sweet shots of these sisters.

E-Session in Huntsville, Al

This glorious engagement session all began at sunrise on a chilly autumn morning. It was 32 degrees to be exact. It made up for the fact that they were both morning people. It helped break the ice–no pun intended.
We headed out to a lake and the fog that morning was insane. It was like they were floating in the clouds in some of the shots. The fog, the graceful ballerina, and the brisk air was all worth the images that were captured that morning.
We also took more casual shots, but I wanted to share the first part of the session since it told such a dramatic and romantic story.
This is what I love to do….

32 degrees, we hopped into our cars this A.M. and drove to our destination for this lovely engagement shoot…
I have sat here at the computer pondering the right words for this one picture, but I think I will let the picture speak for itself.
My heart seriously is leaping with joy…I am passionate about what I do. And I love pushing myself every shoot to outdo myself.

{kiddos and cotton}

So, I made a promise to myself, that I would never be that photographer that didn’t take time to capture beautiful portraits of her own children. Last year I wanted pictures in the cotton, but missed it before it got picked. So, this year I was determined to get pics in the cotton. It was full bloom and 59 degrees, but my kiddos were troopers and played the part by making momma happy.
side note…in love with the softness…
